Meet The Gang

Kijani is an 800-pound gorilla who has come from the depths of the Congo to live in the Greenhouse. Wise and powerful, he followed his vision by teaming up with kids  from around the world to create a sustainable earth. KJ grew up an outcast, the only green gorilla among black mountain gorillas in his band. More often than not, he felt more comfortable with the local humans than with his own gorilla people; he found that he could communicate by making symbols on rocks. Over time, Kijani has learned to speak sparingly using pointed and terse language. He can predict the future through his paintings. Kijani means green in Swahili, but the kids like to call him “KJ”. He plays chest percussion, sometimes picks up the bass, and beat-boxes with Cypher.
Bucket is the punk-skater style practical joker of the group. He was born in Japan, but like his sister was adopted very young. Bucket is a skateboarder and a scavenger that can gerry-rig mechanical devices and turn anything (such as spoons, garbage cans, pencils, trees) into musical instruments. He has a natural affinity with recycled items: thus he gets extremely excited at the prospect of millions of plastic bags. He is confused by the concept of waste, as he sees most items as sources of energy and art. Bucket is the junk drummer and percussionist of the band.

Scoot is the rocket-fast beach girl of the band. At 10, Scoot is sassy and smart, if a bit naive, and the youngest of the band. Loyal and relentless, she’s committed to fun, to protecting the oceans, and endlessly dedicated to her friends, especially KJ. Scoot plays the electric guitar and is one of the lead singers of the band.

Cypher is a master of disguise, code-cracker and language specialist. He is Afro-English, and as the son of a diplomat, he has lived in many places in the world, providing him with a global perspective and a vast network of friends in many countries. He is the chief interpreter for KJ. In the band, Cypher is the beatboxer (with KJ) and DJ.

Socket is often found buried behind her laptop. She’s the “tribal techie” of the group. Of Mayan/Mexican origin, with dark hair behind which she often hides, Socket is a true geek. She built the greenhouse media center and pixilation station and leads pirate web-casting, projecting media into TV, radio and web channels. She DJs from her laptop, plays keyboard, and is a graphic designer.

Wormulus and Dr. Hufflebot are clearly not part of the Gang. They make up a destructive duo with the goal of distracting humans into participating in their newest schemes. Wormulus is a talking worm with a Napoleon complex that has taken over Dr. Morlon Hufflebot’s brain. He has convinced Hufflebot, his front man who does the media cameos, that world domination is the only path to happiness.
